THE UFFORD GARDENING CLUB

The club was originally called The Ufford Cottage Garden and Allotment Society, and was founded on the 24th October 1907 and so can definitely be classed as a village institution. It is, and has always been, an extremely sociable club with currently 75 members, an impressive number for our relatively small village.

Meetings are held on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 7.30 pm, either in St Mary's Parish Hall or the Community Hall,  where we are entertained by a series of expert speakers on a variety of gardening related topics. It is a very convivial atmosphere complimented by the odd glass of wine. Non members are very welcome subject to a fee of £2 payable at the door.

In late Spring we hold an annual plant sale, where a whole range of plants can be purchased at knock down prices - a very economical way of adding to one’s plant stocks for the coming season.

One of the Club’s annual highlights is the Summer Show held every July in St Mary’s Parish Hall and adjoining meadow. This is a fun event and open free of charge to everyone, not just members.

We also have an annual outing, this year visiting 'The Place for Plants' in East Bergholt, on June 21st, together with the very popular member’s open gardens event during early summer.

We welcome new members; If you are interested in joining us please contact the Club Secretary, Sheila Creswick 01394 547658.

Membership Fees -  £10 per  annum

We are affiliated to the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) and to the Suffolk Horticultural and Produce Association (SHAPA).
